Radiation

These posts are going to be scaled back for the time being - that seems to be the best way to go for now.  I just wanted to let you know what's happening, as a way for you to focus whatever it is that you have to focus in his direction. 

C began his radiation treatment yesterday - that will be 5 days a week for the next six weeks - about a 5 minute procedure each time.  Simultaneous to that he will be getting chemo using irinotecan.  The combination of the irino and the radiation "theoretically increases the cell kill of radiation".  Let's hope so.

Unfortunately irino is very hard on the patient.  C was able to get the irino dosage reduced from 100mg to about 40mg (I think) but over more days.  So instead of getting it for 5 days and then off for the next two weeks, he'll be getting it for 10 days and then off for the next one week.  Hopefully this will make it more tolerable.

So that's the deal for now.  He will probably be staying at housing out at City of Hope for some of this time, but that is kind of a moving target depending on how he is feeling.  He is very eager to be at home.  Clare is bringing him some DVDs today to give him some easy distraction during his stay. 

This will be a tough few weeks, a critical phase of his treatment, so keep "holding him in the light"...
